About CAD 2
To improve my overall computer and drafting skills, CAD 2 was the perfect course for me. Just like CAD 1, we learned about the techniques about how to outline different parts, especially in mechanical engineering. We also learned about different views, dimensions, and outlines for drawings. We first drew mechanically, using green construction paper, and tools to be precise with our drawings. Next, we hopped onto the computer and had an AutoCAD unit, and then to finish, we had Onshape, our main unit. Overall, I learned a lot in the engineering and even architectural fields, which is right down my alley into my college and career prep.
Mechanical Drawing Unit
To start off CAD 2, we had to go through the basics of measurements and preciseness of drafting, so we picked up our first unit on mechanical drawing. with a total of 7 drawings, we went threw the basics of views, and how important they are when trying to form a basic part. with ones such as normal views, orthographic, and even isometric, the end was very tough, having to draw an iso view of a toolmaker's vice. This was definitely my hardest one, but turned out to be a very good looking "plate".
AutoCAD Drawing Unit
Just like mechanical drafting, we would plot drawings in different views. However, we started to use AutoCAD again. This software I have been using for the past couple of years, so this unit was the easiest for me in my opinion. I definiteley think that the hardest drawing was plate 19, which was an orthgraphic view, with a broken section. But I thought I did really good on this unit, especially with some experience from Architecture in the first semester.

OnShape Drawing Unit
Probably the largest unit of all of CAD 2, we were introduced OnShape in late April, where we would finish out the rest of the semester drawing on this website. I believe that OnShape is one of the better software, since it has an easier way of dimensioning, plotting, and navigation, than some of the others. The only thing I found pretty difficult was using the extruding tool, since a lot of times things would not register. However, I believe that I did really good with OnShape, and would love to use it again.
Conclusion
Overall, I really enjoyed this class, especially the atmosphere and projects. I made new friends along the way, and got to interact with software that helped me gain knowledge in the engineering and drafting world. One of the things we got to learn more bout that was not included was a special guest from Thomas Jefferson University, who got to teach us more about the drawing and architectural perspectives, which I really enjoyed learning about. Probably my favorite unit was OnShape, since it is my favorite drawing platform. One of the things I wish we could've had was the 3D printing, but the end of the day, I will miss this class lot.
