About CAD 1
CAD or Computer Aided Drafting is the use of computers to design and draw objects with downloaded software. In CAD 1, there are two main units we learn at South Western, which is mechanical drawing and computer drawing. In the first marking period, we did mechanical drawing. in the second marking period, we practiced and learned on the computer. While there, we chose 2 different software including AutoCAD and OnShape. I think that our class was probably one of the most fun classes I have ever had. The students and the teacher were both amazing people and I got to meet some old and some new friends. Overall, I genuinely think that everyone should at least take a class with Mr. Zeroth just because of how energetic and funny he is and how he is really good at teaching.
Mechanical Drawing
Mechanical Drawing is using precision instruments to scale and design drawings on a piece or pieces of paper. Last marking period, we drew a total of 10 drawings before we got introduced to computer drawing. Below are 5 of my best drawings I have done.
Computer Drawing
Computer Drawing or drafting is creating drawings in a program downloaded on a computer using an automated process. Currently, we are drafting on computers using a software called AutoCad.
OnShape
Another system software we used was OnShape. We got introduced this in the middle of the last marking period. OnShape is a lot different from AutoCAD because it has a different setup, different control, and can be used on our school computers. Here are some of the drawings I did while using OnShape.
3D Print Job
I chose to 3d print a monkey because it is my favorite animal and how monkeys are always so playful and happy. I wanted to make sure that when I was trying to find a model, that it would be realistic but also small to fit in the printer. This is what the final object came out as.
